Design at Salesforce

Overview

Salesforce has internal tools for the scale and performance teams called OrgAnalyzer, Fawkes AIOps and Warden AI . These tools has to redesigned to fit the future scalability. Some of these tools are used by both external and internal users to monitor the Core Database CPU performance. These tools are aimed to making the work of the performance engineers easier by alerting the team with potential upcoming issues . All the design were done following the Lightning Design System of Salesforce.

OrgAnalyzer

Design process

• Began the process by studying and understanding the tool and previously done user research.
• Conducted stakeholder interviews and developers to further understand the goal .
  -The goal is to make the existing tool as a single page app .
  -Display important information on the page thus reducing the time to navigate through the pages of the tool.
  -Make it intuitive and readable for all users - internal and external to the team.
  
• Worked along side the developers to ideate and brainstorm the information architecture.
  -The hierarchy starts with displaying the overview and issues first.
  -Followed by the data that is frequently viewed by the users such as Top users, Top SQLS , Top viewpoints, Log record types.
  -The data will be viewed in both graphical and tabular form.
• Iterations were done based on the feedback from the product owners after presentation.

Fawkes AI OPs

Design process

• Began the process by studying and understanding the tool and conducting user interviews with the product owners.
  - To reduce the usage of tiles so as to enable the future readability and usability of the tool.
• Ideating and brainstorming session with developers .
  - That helped to understand more about the purpose of the tool and the areas that needed redesign.
  - Ideating the information architecture.
  -Brainstorming ideas based on the inputs received so far which helped to have a clear picture of the immediate need .
  
• Worked along side the developers to ideate and brainstorm the information architecture.
  -The hierarchy starts with displaying the overview and issues first.
  -Followed by a detailed view of metrics that are organized as tabs containing tiles.
  -The data such as the CSPThrottle and Black tab tools will be viewed in both graphical and tabular form.
• Iterations were done based on the feedback from the product owners after presentation.
